Donald
G. Larson Award for Community Excellence |
What
is the Donald G. Larson Award for Community
Excellence?
Background: The Fresno Covenant Foundation
Community Excellence Award was established in 2005
by the Board of Directors with the purpose of
recognizing people who have made a unique and
significant contribution to the Fresno Covenant
Foundation (FCF). This award is not given out
freely, it is reserved for people who have
demonstrated
long-term and outstanding commitment to the mission
of FCF.
Significance of the Name: In March 2005, Don
Larson was the first person to ever receive the
Community Excellence Award from the Fresno Covenant
Foundation. Don Larson served as the Chairman of the
Board of Directors for the first six years of FCF’s
existence. Don was one of 12 cofounders and one of
the first who passionately supported the cause FCF
embraced—to
empower children and families to achieve productive,
self-reliant lives. On June
23rd 2006, the Community Excellence Award
was renamed in honor of his outstanding service, as the Donald G. Larson Award for Community
Excellence.
Uniqueness of Each Award: No two awards are
exactly alike, each one is handmade with 3
types of exotic wood and engraved for each
recipient. Thank you to Pete Sieperta for donating
his time and talent to hand make each award for
these special people.
